The Queen City Music Lottery formed 15 new bands via a random lottery system beginning this past January.

Musicians and non-musicians were invited to put their name on a list to be randomly placed in a new band. It was so random that they could have ended up with a group of all drummers, vocalists, or even non-musicians.

The goals of organizers Sugar City and Peterwalkee…

Former More Than Me duo visits Buffalo as Doyle Brothers - INTERVIEW

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •   •

Most of the time, grassroots local bands can’t plan for once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

When Williamsville-based More Than Me won Hard Rock Rising’s Global Battle of the Bands in 2010—then opened for Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Pearl Jam in London’s Hyde Park—local momentum sputtered and the band’s name faded into history after playing Taste of Buffalo, Oktoberfest in…

Three piece Cloud Nothings played at the Buffalo Iron Works

Cleveland’s Cloud Nothings opened their 2014 tour here in Buffalo at the Iron Works on Friday night.

The three-piece just released their fourth studio album, “Here and Nowhere Else,” on Tuesday and the band is generating a lot of buzz.

I’m pretty sure that after this tour, the band members will no longer have to man the merchandise table and set up their own equipment like they…

Steve Rannazzisi on plight of Bills fans, fatherhood - INTERVIEW

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •   •

As a Giants fan, comedian Steve Rannazzisi doesn’t know what it’s like.

He hasn’t suffered through four failed Super Bowl tries, the recent death of an owner who kept pro football in Buffalo, 14 straight playoff-less seasons and the prospect of an unstable future.

Rannazzisi may quibble about how Eli Manning doesn’t have the consistency of his older brother, but he’ll always…

Buffalo Niagara 360 Happy Hour for a Cause benefits Torn Space - PHOTOS

It does not get much better than drinking Polish beer in a library that was built back in 1899.

That is exactly why the Buffalo Niagara 360 Happy Hour for a Cause to benefit Torn Space was such a hit this past Wednesday night.

The many people who stopped by the happy hour at the Adam Mickiewicz Library found all sorts of facts about how this little old building has a special…

5 best April Fools’ Day pranks in Buffalo

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •   •

On Tuesday, Buffalo was confronted with two bits of news that, at first glance, would seem like obvious April Fools’ Day jokes.

Donald Trump was announced to be interested in purchasing the Bills’ franchise?

I suppose once we finally done digesting Bon Jovi’s alleged-but-now-refuted interest, maybe we should have second-guessed our laughter at Donald Trump emerging on the scene.…

My next featured artist has nurtured her talents and is quickly becoming a familiar voice among the plethora of talent that Buffalo has to offer. Tiffany Wofford, better known as Tifáni, is following her passion, which has resulted in her getting the chance to experience a couple once-in-a-lifetime…

BuffaBLOG celebrates four years on Saturday - INTERVIEW

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •   •

When BuffaBLOG published its first post on March 30, 2010, the intention of founders Katie Africano and Bill Wright was simply to back an under-exposed local music scene from which they saw talent and potential.

Back then, Thursday at the Square lured diverse crowds—bearded hipsters, high-school socialites and curious downtowners, all in one place—for rising bands, a mention of…
