Nothing is sweeter than an undefeated record - just ask boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. or any Trinity College squash player who has played on the team in the last decade. 

Although the Bills or Sabres might never go undefeated, one Buffalo institution does, in fact, boast an unblemished record of its own when it comes to the yearly fundraising party.  Roswell Park, the nationally-recognized cancer institute, has sold out every edition of its annual All Star Night.  The 22nd edition of the gala features a “Star Struck” theme and is being held this Saturday at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center (153 Franklin St., Buffalo).  Starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting “until the party ends,” this All Star Night is expected to continue Roswell’s undefeated sellout streak.

The 2011 All Star Night intends to replicate the old days of Hollywood glamor.  The gala, complete with the red carpet treatment , casino games and live music and dancing, encourages Buffalonians to step out in style—in other words, you’re going to have to leave the hoodie at home.  Hey, it’s for a good cause.

The celebrity guest list includes American bobsledder and Buffalo native Steve Mesler.  Mesler won a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics as part of the first American team in 62 years to take first place at the Winter Games.  Also attending the gala is actress Blythe Danner.  Danner’s most recent (and probably most familiar) acting role has been as Robert DeNiro’s patient wife in the Meet The Parents trilogy, but you may also know her as Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom (well done, Blythe).

Last year’s All Star Night raised nearly $300,000 in support of cancer research and patient care at Roswell Park.  With the past record of success, Roswell is counting on this year’s edition of All Star Night to be the showpiece event for the institution’s fundraising campaign.  To get your ticket, click here.
