3EB nostalgia at Town Ballroom Wednesday

Stephan Jenkins from 3eb.com

You knew that Third Eye Blind would stick around for awhile once the intro to “Semi-Charmed Life” became lodged in your head for weeks at a time.  Instead of trying to type out all the “Do-do-do, do-do-do-do”s, we’ll just link to the YouTube video at the bottom.

The San Francisco-based alternative rock group plays Town Ballroom on Wednesday night (7 p.m., $30 in advance, $34 day of show.)  The band that also produced “Jumper,” “How’s it gonna be?”, and the remarkably catchy “Never let you go,” still boasts Stephan Jenkins, the original lead vocalist/guitarist, and drummer Brad Hargreaves.  Guitarist Kryz Reid and bass player Abe Millett have replaced Tony Fredianelli (2010) and Arion Salazar (2009), and the band still anticipates a new album in 2011, even if it won’t be called Ursa Minor

Take the time Wednesday to see if Third Eye Blind has reverted back to late ‘90s glory—they made singing about drugs sound awesome—or if the band’s sound has become stale and artificial (a criticism the band has faced and hopefully addressed).
