A canoe or two in Buffalo, Chicago - PHOTOS

blog by Kathryn Przybyla  •

Spending some time at the North American Irish Dance championships in Chicago this week, I had the great opportunity to explore the city and check out some great sights.

One in particular stood out while heading to Navy Pier for their famous Fourth of July fireworks off of Lake Michigan. A canoe structure entitled, Monochrome II Chicago stands at the entrance of Navy Pier, incredibly similar to the work of art that was constructed outside of the Albright-Knox.

The two pieces are works of art produced by Nancy Rubins, who is known for using everyday objects to build monumental forms.

Here is a photo of the Chicago piece.

Here is a photo of the Buffalo piece.

You can find out more about Nancy Rubins and her work here.

Also, check out my video from the fireworks in Chicago off of Navy Pier.
