Behind the tour with Emblem3 - INTERVIEW

Not every artist who makes an appearance on X-Factor can catch Simon Cowell’s interest.
But after taking fourth place during the 2012 season of the show, Cowell saw them talented enough to sign Emblem3 to his own Syco Records—not bad for a trio of guys from Huntington Beach, all 20-years old and younger.
Drew Chadwick and brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg formed the group in 2007 in Sequim, Washington before the guys moved to California to give a music career a shot. Now, Emblem3 will be coming back to Buffalo when they open for Selena Gomez on Oct. 15 at First Niagara Center.
Tickets are still available for the show and you can get more information about them on the First Niagara Center website.
We chatted with Drew, Wesley and Keaton before they come to town with Selena Gomez on Oct. 15. Check out what the boys had to say below.
WNY is pretty excited to have you guys come to Buffalo.
Drew: Yeah, we rocked a show in Buffalo once before and if I remember right, the fans were frickin’ nuts.
What are your favorite things about touring and being on the road?
Drew: Favorite thing about touring is sharing positive energy with mass amounts of people at shows—and of course getting taking on epic adventures by hippies in Canada. That’s always a plus. Also being able to chill with best friends as well as have loads of time to spend on making music.
How has touring with Selena Gomez been?
Wesley: Touring with Selena has been such a blessing. We’ve made so many new fans and played some of the sickest venues. She is such a chill, cool, really down to earth girl and everyone on her team is inviting and a pleasure to be around.
What was your favorite and least favorite things about being on X Factor?
Wesley: Favorite thing about X Factor is the opportunities it can provide for serious artists like me, Drew and Keaton. My least favorite thing about being on the show was that it is a reality television show so there is an unnecessary pressure and stress that hangs over you the whole time. It’s all a big, beautiful, exciting experience that can be taken away from you during any round.
How did it all start for you guys in music?
Keaton: Wes forced us to be in the band [laughs].
Any funny stories from being on tour so far?
Keaton: One time a fan got so excited that they threw up everywhere. I felt kind of bad but it was hilarious!
Who are some of your musical inspirations or bands that you are fans of?
Keaton: Death Cab For Cutie, Blink-182 and Good Charlotte.
What can we expect from Emblem3 in the next year?
Wesley: Emblem3 will be touring everywhere. Hopefully our own headline tour and releasing more singles and music videos. A lot of traveling outside the country and a lot of shows.
Finally, what are your three favorite songs to sing in the shower?
Drew: “Give Me Love” by Ed Sheeran, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and “What I Got” by Sublime.
