Being Bob Dylan

Young Bob Dylan

blog by S.J. Velasquez  •

For nearly a quarter-century, Dylan imitators have battled in Buffalo. Vying for cash prizes and other cool things, these grungy-wispy-nasally performers convene for a Dylan-filled night of music.

Now in its 24th year, the annual Bob Dylan Imitators Contest promises some stiff competition. On Thursday, April 14, potential contestants are invited to sign up beginning at 7 p.m. at Nietzsche’s, and the show starts at 8. A panel of local celeb judges will choose the best of the Bobs, and the winner will receive a cash prize. Admission is just $5, and that also covers the cost of entering the contest if you’re brave—and talented—enough to give it a try.
