In its 30th year, another class of established musicians and contributors to the arts will be recognized for their efforts at the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Induction Gala.
“This year’s class is once again exceptional,” said Rick Mathews, president of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. “It is truly a privilege to recognize and pay tribute to the outstanding talent of these incredible individuals as we prepare to induct them into Buffalo’s coveted Music Hall of Fame.”
In the performer category, notable inductees include Pat Wilson, nationally recognized for his work as a founding member and drummer with the band Weezer, Shawn McQuiller, the lead singer of Kool and the Gang for over 20 years and Bernie Kugel who has served as the godfather of the Buffalo punk scene in the 70’s and 80’s among others.
Legacy awards will be presented to Cameron Baird, a civic promoter of music in Buffalo, Arlester Christian, the writer of the soul classic “Funky Broadway,” Tom Lorenz, a music educator, Ralph Parker, a late guitarist who influenced many musicians in the area and Tune Rockers, whose song “Green Mosquito” was a huge national hit in 1958.
