Buffalo postcards from the past - PHOTOS

Take a visual stroll into the Delaware Park through which your great-grandparents meandered.
The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy announced today that more than 400 vintage postcards, photographs and stereoviews of the city’s Olmsted parks and parkways have been published in a public archive.
“The majority of the images included in this digital collection are from retired librarian and BOPC archives volunteer Jim Mendola’s collection of pre-1923 public domain collection of postcards and stereoviews of the parks in Buffalo,” reads text on the New York Heritage Digital Collections website. “For 88 items, Mr. Mendola has also taken recent photographs of the places pictured in the postcards, so the user can see a ‘before’ and ‘after’ shot.”
A representative from the parks conservancy said that the organization is always accepting historic photos, books and artifacts “related to the history of the parks and Frederick Law Olmsted in Buffalo.” Images and historic articles can be donated, or archivists will scan and return images upon request.
