“Carte blanche for chaos”: Panic! at the Disco rolls to Buffalo Wednesday

blog by Ben Tsujimoto • October 31, 2011 @ 12:36pm
Recognized for their top-ten song “I write sins not tragedies”—where the “What a beautiful wedding!” line originates—Panic! at the Disco has shrunk to only two band members since its last commercial success, vocalist Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith. With a little more space around the studio, the Grammy-nominated, Las Vegas-based duo has not skipped a beat since the separation.
At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Town Ballroom, Patrick Stump of Fallout Boy—back to WNY again in 2011—and Foxy Shazam will open for the headliner before Panic! at the Disco pleases the WNY audience for the first time since their 2009 show with Blink 182 at Buffalo State College.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $27 on the day of the show. To purchase online, go here.
Touring for their March 2011 album Vices & Virtues, Urie and Smith admit that some of their songs border on the bizarre. The band’s bio at panicatthedisco.com reads: “A lot of the albums we were listening to while we were making this record have a verse about one thing and a chorus about something else, but it doesn’t matter as long as the song is good and I think that discovery gave us carte blanche for chaos… so we went nuts.”
It doesn’t hurt that Panic! appreciates Halloween as well!
