Celebrating snail mail - PHOTOS

The United States Postal Service reversed a decision to close Buffalo’s William Street mail processing center, saving about 700 local jobs and preventing local mail from being sent to Rochester for processing.

A Buffalo News article reports that the William Street facility will remain open for three years.

“Today’s news means the Buffalo processing facility’s doors will be open for years to come, providing Western New Yorkers with the timely mail delivery that they deserve,” Sen. Charles E. Schumer said in the News’ story.

In recognition of the USPS’s decision, here are some vintage postcards from the Buffalo-Niagara region—just be sure to click the photo for more information on each piece of postage.
