Confirmed: Childish Gambino, J. Cole to headline UB’s Fall Fest

(Update: UB Spectrum has confirmed that J. Cole and Childish Gambino will perform Sept. 1 at Alumni Arena.)
According to the UB Spectrum’s Twitter account and an archived Google search result, Childish Gambino and J. Cole will headline the University at Buffalo Fall Fest at 6 p.m. Sept. 1.
Here are the Spectrum’s Tweets from Monday evening:

To verify the Ticketmaster page that the Spectrum referred to, a simple Google search did the trick. The page has since been deleted, however.

Browsing through the individual artist’s websites, Childish Gambino’s schedule looks clear for Sept. 1, but J. Cole is scheduled to perform Sept. 1 and 2 on the Rock the Bells tour in New Jersey with Nas, Common, Tyga and a slew of others. Could Cole feature on Day 2, leaving his Sept. 1 open for the University at Buffalo?
We may have to wait until the University at Buffalo Student Association and president Travis Nemmer officially announce the lineup and the location—will it be the weather-risky UB Stadium or more conservative Alumni Arena?—but early indications suggest that the show’s bill will be a major improvement over past years.
“If this lineup doesn’t please students, nothing will,” said UB Spectrum editor-in-chief Aaron Mansfield.
The Spectrum ran a piece called “Legends of the Fall” on June 23, discussing last year’s disappointing lineup, which featured the Fray [Photos], but also detailing the proud history that Fall Fest boasts.
Senior managing editor Brian Josephs recounts the Goo Goo Dolls and Nirvana shows of the early-‘90s as highlights and includes bizarre Fall Fest moments like when a member of hip-hop duo Gangstarr’s entourage threatened a UB student who threw a paper airplane at him. Needless to say, the pairing of Gambino and Cole won’t rank too far from the 2005 booking of Kanye West in terms of media hype and popularity with students.
Here’s a quick teaser of each possible performer:
