Alt-metal faves Cold will perform with Volbeat in Buffalo’s Town Ballroom (681 Main St, Buffalo)at 6:30 p.m. on July 25,  followed by a tour in support of Volbeat. Admission is open for 16 and over (fans under 16 need a parent or guardian).

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based band just released its fifth album, “Superfiction,” with Eleven Seven Music on July 19—their first album since 2005, when they decided to take some well-deserved time off after a nine-year ascent to the upper echelon of turn-of-the-century “aggressive rock,” as the boys in the radio business call it.  Cold was probably best known to the masses for the song “Stupid Girl,” which broke the Billboard Top 100 in the earyl-oughts. Cold also nailed a couple gold albums to the wall and worked with the WWE and Midway Games.

Cold is out on its “Resurrection Tour” in support of their new release, “Superfiction.”  According to Cold’s Facebook page, “Superfiction” is intended to take the band back to its roots with lyrical fiction similar to that of their first two records.  “American Dream” explains how the reality of our dreams can have a pretty sharp bite. In “Welcome 2 My World,” the pounding rhythm fits with the lyrics about broken fairy tales—it gives the feeling of plugging along despite difficulty.

“I want fans to think of the album as Cold’s version of Grimm’s Fairy Tales,” Ward commented on Facebook. “Superfiction is whatever it makes you feel.”

Loyal members of the Cold Army, here’s your call to arms—tickets to their upcoming concert at Buffalo’s Town Ballroom are available online, by phone at 223-6000 or at the Town Ballroom Box Office, Mondays through Fridays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
