Corn MAiZE is back, so get lost

blog by S.J. Velasquez • September 19, 2012 @ 9:36am
Whether looking for a fun family activity or a first date idea, the MAiZE welcomes kids of all ages to stroll through its cornstalk aisles.
The MAiZE, 3901 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Wheatfield, opened this past weekend and will remain open through Oct. 31.
MAiZE spokeswoman Tracy Garland said that the maze is an appealing autumn attraction for just about any audience or occasion. During daylight, families can be found meandering the cornstalk maze, and there’s even a little labyrinth for kids to conquer. High school and college kids from nearby schools are invited to enjoy free hayrides on specific days (see schedule here). And on Friday and Saturday nights, stroll the maze’s moonlight paths with flashlights in hand for the “perfect date night,” Garland said.
This year’s giant maze design, owned and operated by Emerald Green Acres, is inspired by “The Wizard of Oz,” featuring the likeness of a scarecrow accompanied by the words, “If I only had a brain.”
Aside from getting lost among the cornstalks, visit the pumpkin patch, jump on a hayride or launch some corn in the corn cannon.
General admission is $8, with special rates available for combo passes. Activity tickets are $1 each, or 12 for $10.
Buffalo.com will be sending a crew to a flashlight night next week, and there will definitely be video evidence up on Buffalo.com in the days following.
Here’s a little preview of what to expect when visiting the MAiZE, featuring our Winging It friend Allie Hartwick:
