Funk is in the air

DJ’s Cutler and Anubus are putting on a show this Monday night at the Blue Monk, 727 Elmwood Ave., in the latest of the Blue Collar Funk series of all-vinyl funk nights.
Monday nights at 10:30 p.m. feature house DJs Cutler and LoPro spinning 45s (a vinyl record with a quick rotational speed) with guests every week—new guests, that is, to switch things up to keep it fresh.
Soul-slingers Troy Hurt and Miss Shing A Ling join Blue Monk’s house DJs this week. Also joining these master spinners is DMC finalist Dj Anubus, who will be on the decks with an all-vinyl set to keep with the theme of the night. Catch what you’ve been missing from digital music with a night of raw and organic beats that you only get with the style of a 45.
The Blue Monk stands out on Elmwood as the bar with the largest selection of Belgian draft beers. Always changing, the bottled, draft and menu selections at Blue Monk give bar-hoppers a break from the ordinary.
