John Rzeznik, lead singer of Buffalo band the Goo Goo Dolls, appeared on Daryl Hall’s internet series, “Live From Daryl’s House,” this past Sunday. The Grammy nominated artist joined Hall for a day-long session, performing songs from both artists’ catalogues, then rounded out the day by eating (what else?) Buffalo wings.

The day included a seven-song set, with both artists performing such Goo Goo Dolls hits as “Iris” and “Slide,” both from the 1998 album “Dizzy Up the Girl.” The pair also performed tracks from the Goo Goo Dolls’ most recent album, “Something for the Rest of Us,” playing “Home” and “Still Your Song.” Hall and Rzeznik also played some of Hall’s original songs, including “Did It in a Minute,” a top 10 hit from his 1981 album. Despite being one of the few Buffalo residents who will own up to being unimpressed by the Goo Goo Dolls, even I have to admit that Rzeznik and Hall sound pretty good.

The musicians took a break from performing to do some cooking, making some authentic Buffalo wings. Rzeznik proclaims what every Buffalonian already knows, that “Buffalo wings” throughout the rest of the country are far inferior, and helps show Daryl Hall how it’s really done. Rzeznik actually seems to know what he’s doing, so chicken wing enthusiasts may want to take note. Although he does admit that by giving away the secret to our great wings, he might be inviting “some guy in Buffalo to hit me over the head with a ratchet.”

The award-winning internet show featured a day of good music and good food, and highlighted two of Buffalo’s most famous products: wings and the Goo Goo Dolls. And Hall and Rzeznik clearly enjoyed their session, with Hall even inviting Rzeznik to “come over anytime and rattle those pots and pans” and Rzeznik stating that it was “definitely a day I will always remember.” Fans of John Rzeznik and the Goos can check out the show at http://www.lfdh.com.
