Illuminate the Old First Ward with B Team Buffalo

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •

For the fifth holiday season, B Team Buffalo is bringing joy to a Buffalo neighborhood through City of Light, a full day of decorating and activities near the Old First Ward Community Center, 62 Republic St. Buffalo.

From 8 a.m. through 7 p.m. Saturday, B Team Buffalo, a not-for-profit with the mission of spurring community activity, will gather volunteers to bring holiday spirit—and plenty of red and green lights—to the Old First Ward neighborhood.

B Team Buffalo volunteers will begin decorating businesses and homes surrounding the Old First Ward Community Center as a goodwill gift for the season. Inside the community center, more volunteers will host a winter carnival, which will include arts and crafts, games, a visit from Santa (dude’s busy these days) and toy distribution to neighborhood kids. There’s a community-wide dinner scheduled for 6 p.m. within the community center, just after the Christmas tree lighting at 5:30.

The organization is still looking for volunteers, and if you’re interested, please contact Elizabeth Callahan, the chair of B Team Buffalo, at (716) 984-7660 or email her at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Here’s the rough schedule, which can be separated into three shifts—9 a.m. to 1 p.m., then 2 p.m. to 6 for decorating, or there’s a carnival shift from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30.

If you’d like to donate, here’s the link to support via PayPal and here’s where you can send any donation: B Team Buffalo, Attn: Liz Callahan, 46 Juniata Place, Buffalo, NY 14210.

Saturday’s event marks the second time this year that B Team Buffalo has reached out to the Old First Ward neighborhood, as volunteers built and installed garden beds for local use.

Join in on festivities that beautify a proud Buffalo neighborhood for the winter season.
