There’s no official word from the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation yet, but Buffalo Irish Festival organizers are already excitedly spreading the word through social media: the festival is returning to the great outdoors—Canalside, to be precise.
Earlier today, a post to the Shannon Pub Facebook page revealed some unofficial details regarding the 2012 festival, including the fact that there’s a new venue: “Buffalo Irish Festival is moving to Canalside August 24-26! Finally, back to the water.”
Last year, festival organizer Kevin Townsell expressed frustration over his continued rejected proposals submitted to the ECHDC. The 2011 festival was instead held at the Statler City complex. This year, it looks like his wish has finally been granted.
Before the official announcement of the summer Canalside event lineup, festival organizers have a long list of tasks to tackle. “... we’re anxious to move forward with sponsorship arrangements, Irish vendor space, equipment rentals, tents, and getting other folks involved,” the Facebook post states.
The festival is scheduled for Aug. 24 to 26, and an impressive list of performers has already been added to the schedule.
