Junior Boys bring the beats on Saturday

Junior Boys perform in Buffalo on Saturday night.

blog by Ben Kirst  •

If you’re down with spare, slightly creepy yet genuinely catchy and danceable electronic indie rock, then you probably already have plans to attend the Junior Boys show at The Tralf Music Hall (622 Main St., Buffalo) on Saturday.

The Junior Boys—Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus—hail from nearby Hamilton, Ontario are currently on the road in support of the fourth album, It’s All True.  Cory Perla of Artvoice recently posted an excellent interview with Greenspan about some of the inspiration behind the record—including the musician’s extended visit to China and a fascination with the delightfully corpulent Orson Welles.

The duo has been described as “...marry(ing) everything from post punk, disco, techno, R’n’B and electronica with soul, dubstep, house, splintered pop and traces of world music into one cohesive whole. They are at once warm and inviting, yet ice cool; clever but instantly accessible; mercurial and utterly fascinating.”  Ironically, I was once described exactly the same way.  Tickets to the show are $15.  Doors open at 7 p.m.  Egyptrixx will open.  Have fun!
