Kevin Costner: Buffalo Bills general manager

Known for straying away from official film endorsements, the NFL seems to be warming up to the idea of a football flick.
New York Magazine’s Vulture.com reports that the NFL is on board for the upcoming film “Draft Day,” reportedly starring Kevin Costner, and the football organization might be investing in the movie, too.
In the $20 million seriocomic film—as Vulture describes it—Costner would play the part of Buffalo Bills general manager.
Back in June, Buffalo.com‘s Kathryn Przybyla reported that Paramount Pictures had acquired a script for the movie, written by Rajiv Joseph and Scott Rothman. Ivan Reitman, she wrote, was listed as director of the football feature. Reitman’s name appear in the credits of quite a few bit hits, including “Ghostbusters,” “Hitchcock,” “No Strings Attached” and “I Love You, Man”.
It’s an unusual move for the NFL to allow filmmakers to use official NFL teams or the likeness of players, according to Vulture. And it’s even more unlikely that the NFL will make a financial investment in the film.
“I have had movies where the brand had approval,” “Moneyball” producer Rachel Horovitz told Vulture. “But I’ve never done a project where a brand had an investment. It’s usually the reverse, where you’re giving them money for the right to use their brand. In all truth, they can make your life miserable — but in the case of MLB and Moneyball, it was creative, intelligent, and respectful, and everybody was equally excited about getting the story right.”
