Lake Effect Comedy: a different kind of happy hour

Lake Effect Comedy returns to the Adam’s Mark on Monday night after a successful debut in July, and tickets are still available.

For just $5, enjoy the comedic stylings of six Western New York comics while lounging comfortably at the Adam’s Mark Hotel, 120 Church St., Buffalo.

Monday’s show starts at 9 p.m., doors at 8:45, and features a mix of award-winning stand-up comedians and up-and-coming comics. The show’s headliner is Kristen Becker, named best stand-up comic by Artvoice and founder of the Doin’ Time Comedy Showcase every Tuesday night at Nietzsche’s. She’s also the force behind bringing Helium Comedy Club to Buffalo later this year.

Rick Matthews, a finalist for the 2012 Funniest Person in Rochester contest, will host the show. Also doing sets are Greg Bauch, Anthony Rizzo, Adam Hernandez and Jason Pomietlasz. You might recognize Hernandez and Pomietlasz’s voices, as the guys make up two-thirds of AudioBuffalo’s Movie Maddness podcast crew.

Adam’s Mark supplies a cash bar. Can’t make any promises for Monday, but there were baskets of party mix and Pepperidge Farm Goldfish at the tables during the July show.
