Summer might be on its way out, but Breakerbox‘s new single, “Summertime” is just about to arrive.
The brain child of singer/songwriter Christina DeNee’ and drummer/producer Scott Calandra, Breakerbox is looking to bring a little more rock to the Queen City. Both coming from musically diverse backgrounds, when Calandra first met DeNee’, he knew with her attitude and vocal skills combined with his heavy groove and direction that they could make something special happen.
After touring up and down the east coast, their no hold barred performances helped to create a strong buzz and Breakerbox was featured successfully at NYC clubs such as “The Cutting Room”, “Arlene’s Grocery” and “The Continental”.
According to the band,
The Breakerbox sound is truly a product of their surroundings growing up in Buffalo. A blue collar, snow belt city where making it in entertainment is about as likely as climbing the nearby Niagara Falls. These two are proving everyone wrong. Breakerbox shows us that there is room and that there is indeed a need for a new form of female fronted rock, that a song can still make you think and the same time make you groove…and that there is still a place for Rock n Roll. And they’ve only just begun.
The group has also made a great impact locally so far, opening for Seether as part of the Thursday at the Harbor series at Canalside this past July. For more information on the band, check out their website.
