   A few years ago, fter many hours of listening to the childrens cds in the car, I decided I would try to play some of my music.  I thought there would be alot of protesting, but when I looked in my rearview mirror, my young sons were playing air guitar and drums.  They loved the Goo Goo Dolls!

   One of my favorite memories is way back when I started at the job I am at today.  I was getting over a bad break up, bought my first new car, and I was driving to work downtown with Superstar Car Wash.  I had found my new favorite band.  That is still my favorite CD!  And it’s my birthday today!!!

   same as yesterday, when Johnny and Robbie sat behind me at Ralph Wilson Stadium, you could tell how much they truly love buffalo, and the tradition of buffalo drinking, they were hammered!

   When my best friend Samantha and I turned a 4 hour trip to Saratoga to see The Goo Goo Dolls for the first time into an 8 hour trip because our car (Betty - still kickin’ by the way) legitimately died 7 times along the way. We made it just in time for the show and it is still one of my all time favorite concert memories to date.

   Being the prehistoric relic my children think I am, imagine their surprise when they came home one day and found me listening to some Goo-Goo Dolls music. I wish I had a camera with me. While I have no direct Goo-Goo Doll experience, I just want to thank them for bringing me into the 21st century and helping my children realize I’m a little more hip than they gave me credit for!

   The first time I ever hung out with Cody was at the Goo Goo Dolls concert at Darien Lake in August of 2007. We became best friends that night and ended up introducing my mother to his father soon after. They started dating that summer and are still together. Thanks to the Goo Goo Dolls, Cody is now practially my brother and I have the best father figure in my life that I could ever ask for. I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like if I never went to that show.

   My favorite memory was when the Castellani Art Museum had the painting by Jed Jackson (whose art is the cover to the Goo’s Jed album).  I learned a lot about their backstory because of my time working at Castellani. =)

   I worked at Record Theater when A Boy Named Goo came out.  It was a wonderful experience to see how excited everyone was to get their CD.

   Hanging out at the Music is Art Festival with Robbie was awesome! I was performing with my dance school and he chilled with us side stage - really great guy & i can’t wait to hit up the festival this year!

    A couple of years ago, when I was only 13 years old, my best friend that I’ve known since we were only 2 years old, was going through a rough patch in her life. The Goo Goo dolls were the only thing that got us through that. We listened to their songs and understood them in a depth that other 13 year olds wouldn’t understand. To this day, every time I hear a Goo Goo Dolls song on the radio while I’m passing through a store or driving to work, I get close to tears. They got us through one of the toughest times in our lives, and I am so grateful to them.

    July 4, 2004 - Seems like only yesterday I was standing in the second row singing along at the top of my lungs as the rain poured down. Such an amazing experience to be part of. The Goos were on their A game all night long despite the torrential downpour—that was beyond impressive . “Iris” was made to be played in that rain—such an epic performance. Chills down my spine just thinking about it. July 4, 2004 will ALWAYS be my favorite 4th of July. July 4, 2004 is why I will ALWAYS love Buffalo. July 4, 2004 is why I will ALWAYS love the Goo Goo Dolls.

    I was in 7th grade (1996) and my mom got me hooked on the Goo Goo Dolls. She even signed me up for their fan club and they sent me a signed poster which was hung on my wall for a few years. I saw them at Sheas in 1997 and have been a fan ever since. I have a sense of Pride in a great music talent that made it big from Buffalo.

    Wayyy back in the day I remember the cute neighbor guy down the street driving down the street past my house daily blasting “Long Way Down” in his hoopty mobile, window down, hitting the door with his hand to the beat of the music.  haha <3 the Goo Goo Dolls!!!

    I Lost a Bartender….AND 4 Boxes of Mac & Cheesee!!!!! 

    
    As a Bar owner in the Southtowns,  My fondest GOO Goo Doll memory ...Years back when they played at UB [admission to concert was a food donation for the needy]  ...My 30’s something male bartender decides to take a 15teen yr.old to this concert…...  [they both LOVED the GGD]  They needed a donation..and the only boxes small enough   [in my commerical kitchen ]  .....were 4 boxes of kraft mac and cheese ..Needless to say…...his marriage ended that day.. the 30’s/15 relationship ended within a week ...He was too enbarassed to every tend bar [small town] and they never replaced my mac & cheese .......I don’t know who the GGD are….but after all this havoc… I sure would like to find out!!....As a music lover….I sure My grandson & I would enjoy…

    On Oct 30th, 2010 we went to the Goo Goo Dolls concert at the Casino in Salamanca. This is a really great place to see a show, it’s such an intimate venue & there’s not a bad seat in the place. We had seats in the 4th row!!!! (YAY!) What could be better you ask? The security guards letting us stand @ the stage for the the whole show! That’s what could be better! I’m sure Johnny was singing just to me and only me all night long : )

    In 2009 my family and I took a trip to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.  While we were there we found out Johnny Rzeznik was playing a set in a VIP tent that you could only get into with special passes.  My dad, sister and I asked the security guard at the front gate if we could get it to see the concert.  He said that we could wait and if enough people left they would let us in but there was no guarantee.  Naturally we decided to wait and eventually was let in just in time to see the show!  We eventually made our way to the front of the stage and when the show was over followed Johnny out the side door.  All these people were yelling to him to stop so they could get their picture with him but he wouldn’t stop until I screamed out, “Hey, I’m from Buffalo!”  He turned around put his arm around me and said, “Right on, where we looking?”  He took the picture with me and then continued on his way.  It was an awesome day!

    So I have always loved the Goo Goo Dolls, but I have never been fortunate enough to go to one of their concerts.  Life has always got in the way of my chance.  This could be my chance to make a memory, other than just listening and singing along in my car!!!

    I remeber the Goos opening up fo the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Buffalo State Student Union Social Hall with about 75 other people in 1989.  I thought, “Man, here are two great bands!” - and I was right.  I still have the concert stub, and the cost was $12.

    Hands down best Goos memory, 4th of July concert in Buffalo in front of City Hall. It was jam packed with fans of all ages and everyone was soaking wet, including the band! The best part was that no one cared! The rain didn’t stop anyone from having a great time and is for sure something I will remember for the rest of my life. It was Buffalo at its finest!

    My best memory is seeing them play live when I was 13!! It’s been wayyy tooo long!! 12 years later- I’m due to see em :D
