Mt. Eden dubsteps into our fair city on Sunday

Return to the Planet of the Tapes

blog by Ben Kirst  •

It’s been a nice run for the Buffalo electronic music scene: Skrillex, Zed’s Dead and Junior Boys have all rolled through town in the past couple weeks.  DBGB’s in Allentown has become an accessible spot to hear local DJs.  Molly is cheap and plentiful.  Well, I actually don’t know about that last one, but the beat will indeed go on this weekend as New Zealand dubstep / drum n’ bass duo Mt. Eden offers a Sunday set at Town Ballroom.  Doors are at 8 p.m.  Also on the bill are locals HXLY, Medison and Bittle.  Tickets are $20.

Mt. Eden—real names Jesse Cooper and Harley Rayner—is probably best known for their remixes of work by The Prodigy and Madonna, among many others.  Influences include Skrillex, Q-Tip, Bulletproof, Concord Dawn, Bjork and Imogen Heap.  Expect a high-energy show, non-stop dancing and a handful of jaw-droppingly attractive people in the audience.  Feel free to share photos with us!  Now move along, we need to ride this beat for a while.
