Roosevelt and Cook ‘Take Off’ in new music video

Not only can the boys play some serious football, but it looks like Buffalo has an up-and-coming rap duo on its hands. While browsing Facebook last night, I came across a video that was blowing up my newsfeed. Surprisingly, it was current Buffalo Bills wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt and long-time friend and teammate Domonic Cook, both graduates of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and the University at Buffalo—and they were rapping.
Roosevelt has been working hard to make a name for himself this season with the Bills, having caught his first NFL career touchdown from a 60-yard pass against the Giants in October. Cook joined the Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent this summer, but unfortunately suffered a knee injury the first week of camp and was placed on injured reserve. But while he may have had to take a seat this football season, he wasted no time when to it comes to music.
Grind Hard’s “Take Off” features Cook along with Roosevelt, sporting some serious Buffalo-wear. Complete with St. Joe’s hoodies, Bills hats and Sabres shirts, there is no denying where these guys call home.
Being the Sacred Heart Academy graduate that I am (Class of ’07), I went to tons of football games in high school to cheer these guys on at St. Joe’s. It’s hard not to feel a little bit of pride seeing them making moves for themselves. Who knows what they’ll come up with next.
