Rusko brings party to Buffalo for EDM fans - VIDEO

With the popularity of electronic dance music (EDM) on the rise, Buffalonians should be excited for dubstep DJ and producer Rusko’s performance at 8 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Town Ballroom, 681 Main Street, Buffalo.

Dubstep has quickly evolved into one of the most popular branches of EDM, as fans can’t get enough of the overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns.

Rusko’s stop in Buffalo is part of his Lift Me Up Tour with Roni Size and Dynamite MC.

Music has always been a prominent part of Rusko’s life; he was born into a musical family and warmed to the craft at a young age. He graduated from
Leeds University in England with a degree in musical performance and had the chance to explore all areas of music—clearly, he’s not an 18-year-old who bought a laptop, acquired expensive software and started fooling around.

Unlike some dubstep artists, Rusko developed his own take on the genre. Instead of making tracks with a dark serious side, his approach is playful and uplifting.

The English dubstep DJ has released four full-length albums and a legion of singles. His most recent full-length album was released in 2012, but he dropped a three-track EP, “Lift Me Up,” on Skrillex’s imprint, OWSLA.

That most recent success dropped at Ultra Music Festival in March. The EP explores what he calls “his first love” — drum and bass. Rusko especially enjoys the last 20 minutes of his set because he dedicates the finale to drum and bass action.

Fans get excited about Rusko because “he doesn’t bring the party; he is the party,” as JoonBug.com reflects. His concerts burst with energy and fill the dance floor of venues across North America and Europe.

He plays a versatile set with some crowd-pleasers, a few tracks intended to blow fans’ minds and some anticipated remixes.

In addition to touring, Rusko recently launched a new online merchandise store.

Tickets for his show next week are $27 presale or $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased on tickets.com.
