Salt-N-Pepa to shake up Canalside

blog by Kathryn Przybyla • August 16, 2012 @ 11:35am
Thursday at the Harbor attendees that grew up in the ‘90s will appreciate the good times to be had tonight at Canalside.
The “Queens of Hip Hop,” Salt-N-Pepa are known for paving the way for female rappers including the likes of TLC, En Vogue, Missy Elliott and Nicki Minaj. The Queens natives are known for their incredibly popular hits such as “None of Your Business,” “Shoop,” “Push It,” and “The Showstopper.”
According to their website, “No matter what you call them, Salt-N-Pepa, along with the other artists on the tour, revolutionized a people, changed a culture and totally revamped the way the world saw music forever. You can’t list or mention the top rap songs of all time without their hit songs showing up. And you can’t talk about music history without mentioning their names. Their contributions to a culture and to the world of hip hop has influenced the landscape and look of music as we know it today.”

You can catch Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton tonight at the Erie Canal Harbor Central Wharf. Opening acts for the performance tonight include Buffalo’s own Chae Hawk and DJ Cutler. This event is free and open to the public, with the festivities taking place tonight from 5 to 9:30 p.m.
For more information on tonight’s Salt-N-Pepa performance, head over to the Buffalo Place Thursday at the Harbor website.
