The ‘Modern Love’ of Matt Nathanson

It’s official… folk-rock is the new black.

It’s been an amazing summer for music in Buffalo this year and closing out Buffalo Place’s impressive 2012 lineup will be Massachusetts native Matt Nathanson. He may have been performing for years, but no one can deny the singer-songwriter’s big break came with 2007’s “Come on Get Higher.”

Since then, a huge album release and successful songs including “Faster” and “All We Are” have entered Nathanson to a whole new level of credibility. Not only can he make a hit song, but other artists want in on it.

His latest album, “Modern Love” features what might possibly be the singer’s biggest hit yet, a collaboration with Sugarland, “Run.” What might have seemed like a strange matchup between a folk-rock singer and country music duo, turned out to be the perfect equation.

You can catch Nathanson tonight at the final Thursday at the Harbor show, with Lights and Voices as openers. It is a free concert and you can find all the information on Buffalo Place’s website.
