The return of Larkin Square’s South Buffalo Night

Marking the 10th week of this year’s Live at Larkin concert series, tonight will be the second annual South Buffalo Night. The event will feature performances by a number of local acts including the Stone Bridge Band, Brian Higgins and the Exchange Street Band, and the Informers.
This entry in the free concert series, presented by First Niagara, found its start when it garnered the largest crowds during Live at Larkin’s inaugural season last year with a total of nearly 3,000 attendees filling Larkin Square.
“Last summer, the community embraced Larkin Square,” Larkin’s Director of Fun, Leslie Zemsky, said on the organization’s Facebook event page. “And this year we’re featuring more bands and vendors while adding new free events that fit this beautiful and unique space.”
This summer’s Live at Larkin concert lineup has put the focus on the bands and artists around the Western New York area with featured acts including Aqueous, Dive House Union, Peter Case and the Albrights among others.
Performing this week will be the headlining classic rock and blues bands, the Informers and the Stone Bridge Band, featuring local singer-songwriter, Willie Schoellkopf. Also joining the bill will be Congressman Brain Higgins and his backing group, the Exchange Street Band, in what will be their second public performance.
Between sets, members of the Clann Na Cara School of Dance will head to the stage for a showcase of traditional Irish dancing.
Alongside South Buffalo Night’s musical performances, the Larkin Marketplace will boast vendors from local businesses like Arden Farm, Great Harvest Bread, Buffalo Beaders and Burkey’s Sportswear. Food and refreshments will be available from Amy’s Truck, Rolling Joe Café, and from Larkin Square’s fleet of restaurants: the Filling Station, Square 1 Sandwiches and the Grill.
Larkin Square’s South Buffalo Night will run tonight from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The Live at Larkin concert series will continue next week with the final four entries of this season. The schedule for these shows is listed below.
