Here is our list of the top places to ring in 2012 in Buffalo—if we could, we would attend them all.

Hard Rock guitar drop
Hard Rock Cafe New Year’s Eve Guitar Drop
Kicking off at 8 p.m. in Niagara Falls, NY, the Hard Rock Cafe will host the annual guitar drop with live entertainment from The Wailers. Also on hand will be More Than Me and Outernational. There is an all-ages street party on Old Falls Street for the public which will include live music, heated tents, entertainment, fireworks, food and beverage stations. Lowest of the Low
Lowest of the Low at the Town Ballroom
The doors open at 8 p.m. for this event with the Sabres game being played on the big screen up until the concert. Immediately following the game, the Lowest of the Low will rock the Town Ballroom for New Year’s Eve. Tickets are $42 in advance for this 21 and up event. The Albrights
Nietzsche’s New Year’s Eve
With an impressive Buffalo line-up, Nietzsche’s will have music beginning at 9 p.m. on the last night of 2011. Scheduled to perform are Aqueous, The Albrights, Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza, Erie Lackawanna Railroad and Megan Callahan. Music will be playing all night and into the morning down in Allentown. Statler Hotel
The Ice Ball at Statler City
Already set to be the party of the year on Buffalo, the Statler City Ice Ball is officially sold out for this weekend. But for $150, attendees will get a Buffalo Chophouse grande buffet, five hours of open bar, hours of live music and glamorous entertainment. Coles
Cole’s New Year’s Eve party
Another great line-up for New Year’s entertainment, stop by Cole’s at 10 p.m. to check out Rhubarb, Lazlo Hollyfeld, Eric Crittenden and Joe Urge. Tickets are $13 pre-sale and $20 at for the door for this party on the private third floor. Attendees will be presented with bottomless glasses of champagne that will go perfectly with the balloon drop at midnight. Shannon Pub
New Year’s Eve in Dublin at the Shannon Pub
A unique party for New Year’s Eve, the festivities kick off at 5 p.m. withe the bar closing down at 10 p.m. Food and drink specials will be going on all night with Penny Whiskey playing some great Irish tunes until 9 p.m. To really get in the Irish spirit, the Shannon Pub will be having a ball drop at 7p.m “a la Dublin” and there is no cover for the event. Merge Buffalo
New Year’s Eve at Merge
Ring in the new year with Dotsun Moon at Merge this weekend. For no door charge, you can have a more cozy night with great ambiance that Merge has to offer. In between short sets, DJ San Plur will be spinning songs from the likes of Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Neon Indian, Zola Jesus and more. Hors d’oeuvres and a great ale, wine and liquor selection will be on hand for attendees. Don’t forget about the champagne—they’ll have that too. Check out the Facebook event for more information. Steve Ballesteri
Ring in the New Year at Banchetti by Rizzo’s
With three separate rooms to party, this is a New Year’s celebration in Amherst like no other. West of the Mark will be performing country and pop favorites along with a BBQ station to dine from. Also making an appearance is Route 66 who will be playing everything from 60’s to a present mix of music with an Italian antipasti table. Rounding out the music is the Steve Balesteri jazz trio who will be entertaining the dessert and espresso cafe. Tickets are $70 and include all food stations and an open bar. Buffalo Ball drop
Buffalo Ball Drop at the Electric Tower
Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather downtown for the 24th annual Buffalo Ball Drop and Fireworks kicking off at 10:30 p.m. Catlin Koch and the Jamie Moses Band will be entertaining the crowd at Roosevelt Plaza at the second largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the United States—yes here in Buffalo! DBGB's
DBGB’s New Year’s Eve
With a complimentary hors d’oeuvres, champagne fountain and midnight toast, Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar is another great spot for New Year’s Eve festivities this year. The party will be hosted by Queen City Cartel and joining them will be Drop D, Anubus, Charlie the Butcher and Shuteyes, Arehouse, Bearskinrug, Beta, and Medison providing the music. Tux and Pucks
Buffalo Sabres “Tux and Pucks”
For the New Year’s Eve game against the Ottawa Senators, the Buffalo Sabres will be hosting Tux and Pucks sponsored by Tuxedo Junction and Buffalo Brides. Fans are encouraged to dress their best and can even rent a tuxedo for the night. There are ticket specials available, and for those who already purchased tickets to the game, fans can rent tuxedos for $20.12. If you’re going to the game, you might as well look good doing it.
