Tomasello’s BREED to drop Friday

Local artist Rich Tomasello’s work conveys dark themes in a clever, mythical manner. Featuring consistent depictions of beings with bandages wrapped around their skulls and single horns perched atop their heads, his exhibits suggest a gloomy dystopia—but you can’t look away.

From 6 until 11 p.m. Friday, 464 Gallery, 464 Amherst St., Buffalo, will host the reception for Tomasello’s second solo show, BREED, which runs through March 21. There’s no admission charge, but Tomasello’s work will be available for purchase. Complimentary food and drink will be available as long as it lasts.

Tomasello’s exhibit is the first of the 464 Prime series in which 464 Gallery owner Marcus Wise hand-selects the best material from one of Buffalo’s top artists to convey a central theme or storyline in an exhibit. It’s an honor to be chosen for the exhibition, but Tomasello’s most recent visceral ink washes, clay installations, and pen and inks caught Wise’s attention.

Celebrate the most recent work of one of Buffalo’s artists on the rise at Friday’s reception.
