UB Dance Alumni All-Star Concert

blog by Britney Buscaglia  •

Do you ever wonder what happens to UB dance majors once they graduate college?  Do they really find a full time job as a dancer? Well, here’s your chance to find out.

The performance,Back to Buffalo 3, will feature a group of talented, accomplished alumni.  The show is at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 24.  and it’s something worth watching. All proceeds from the performance will benefit the spring 2012 dance residency at UB Center for the Arts. Even Better.

The Center’s Dance Residency Outreach Program invites professional dance companies into area schools for workshops, demonstrations and performances.  Since 1997, more than a dozen professional visiting artists have provided more than 20,000 students with free dance performances and workshops.  Additionally, the Dance Residency attracts prospective students and affords UB dance majors the opportunity to take part in master classes with international professional artists.

Currently scheduled to perform include:

- Rich Ashworth (Chicago Tap Theater)
- Megan Castlevetere (Stiletto Entertainment / Holland America)
- Kristen Danga (Disney, YOW Dance)
- Teal Darkenwald (faculty, East Carolina University & Magnus Midwest)
- Jenny Laroche (Rockette—The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, TV/film)
- Meghen Squires McKinley (Convergence Dance Theater)
- Leanne Rinelli (adjunct professor at Buffalo State College, Bill Evans Dance Company)
- Jason Stotz (Missouri Contemporary Ballet)
- Jessica Wolfrum (River North Dance Chicago)

In addition, UB’s Zodiaque Dance Company will perform a piece choreographed by UB alum John Lehrer (Founder & Artistic Director, Lehrer Dance).

The performance will be held in the Center’s Drama Theatre and ticket prices are $26.50 for the public and $11.50 for students.  Tickets can be purchased at the Center for the Arts Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets and ticketmaster.com.  Charge by phone at 1-800-745-300.
