Venture to Black Rock for IndieSound

blog by Ben Tsujimoto • September 26, 2012 @ 11:28am
IndieSound captures the beauty of Buffalo’s eccentric communities. During the event’s previous iteration on Allen Street, music lovers bounced from restaurant to gallery on a Saturday afternoon, feasting on the musical talents of Buffalo’s local musicians.
Buffalo First! and the Good Neighborhood partner with the Grant-Amherst Business Association to present this weekend’s IndieSound @ Black Rock, the first time the community-based event has branched out to the startlingly vibrant section of Buffalo. The festival, which runs briefly on Friday night at 464 Gallery before raging from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, is almost entirely free of charge (see details below).
Here’s the list of the musicians performing, including times and locations. Especially popular acts include the Zak Ward, Screaming Jeans, Steve Woolsey and Whiskey Reverb.
These two performances below are the only to require an admission charge:

A bevy of food trucks, including the brand-new Knight Slider, will be stationed in the parking lot of Artisan Kitchens and Baths, while a beer-tasting will be organized by Flying Bison Brewery in the same location.
Buoyed by businesses such as Mark Goldman’s Black Rock Kitchen and Bar, the newly-renovated Sportsman’s Tavern and multipurpose venue Artisan Kitchens and Baths, Black Rock has started the transformation from forgotten community to attractive destination, as the stretch of Amherst Street between Military Avenue and Elmwood Avenue in particular has taken off.
