Since TV journalist and talk show host Anderson Cooper first giggled his way through a Dyngus Day segment, Buffalonians have called for the Silver Fox of broadcast to travel to Buffalo to experience the Polish holiday in person.

On Thursday, locals will learn whether Cooper will join Buffalo’s post-Easter celebration as the esteemed Pussy Will Prince. Earlier today, Broadway Fillmore Alive revealed information about the Pussy Willow Prince announcement, which will take place at 1 p.m. in the City Hall lobby. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown will be present at the City Hall presentation to reveal the prince’s identity.

According to a statement, organizers of the celebration are “capitalizing on the unprecedented national and international television coverage Dyngus Day received following last year’s Dyngus Day.”

There is no blatant mention of Cooper in the news release, though, so Cooper’s involvement in the annual festivities is still a matter of speculation.

In a January Buffalo.com interview, Dyngus Day Buffalo co-founder Eddy Dobosiewicz said he wasn’t sure if Cooper would make it to town for Dyngus Day.

“We just don’t know for sure,” Dobosiewicz told Buffalo.com social content coordinator Kathryn Przybyla. “He would like to come here and participate, but he has a lot of other commitments like daily television shows and it all depends on what’s going on in the rest of the world that week. If some major news event happens, he’ll be tie"to that.”

On Dyngus Day Buffalo’s official website, the following message appears, also adding to locals’ suspicions that the celebrity might be a confirmed guest:

“Dziekuje Anderson Cooper for helping making Dyngus Day in Buffalo an international news story. We accept his apology. If Mr. Cooper’s schedule permits, Cooper will assume the title of “Pussy Willow Prince” during Dyngus Day 2013, which ironically falls on April Fools Day (April 1st), and appear in the Dyngus Day Parade.”
