Coldplay, a band that plays with intense emotion and captivating energy, brings their first concert film and live album in nine years to theaters for one night only. Coldplay Live 2012 documents their much-admired Mylo Xyloto world tour, which has been seen by more than three million people since it began in June of 2011.

Directed by Paul Dugdale, Live 2012 includes footage from Coldplay’s shows at Paris’s Stade de France, Montreal’s Bell Centre and the band’s triumphant Pyramid Stage headlining performance at Glastonbury 2011.

Lead singer Chris Martin explains, “The Mylo Xyloto tour has been the most fun we’ve ever had as a band. It’s felt very uplifting right from the start; partly because we are proud of the music, the LED wristbands, the pyrotechnics, the lasers and all of that stuff, but mainly because of the amazing audiences that we’ve been playing for. Over the years, our crowd has become more and more a part of the concert itself. They’re loud, diverse, full of soul, and make the songs sound much better than we can on our own. We wanted to try to bottle the incredible feeling that they give us, and hence our concert film.”

To win tickets to the screening of Coldplay Live 2012 at Dipson’s Amherst Theatre at 7 or 9 p.m. on Nov. 13, leave a comment telling us your favorite Coldplay song and why. We will randomly draw 10 winners today at 2:00 p.m. Winners will each receive a voucher good for two free admissions.

    *Speed of Sound*

It was the Summer right before we would all start college and we were driving around Buffalo just blasting this song. The song was played several times in a row with my ears tingling from the vibrations of the music at max volume. It was an exciting time for all of us, feeling like “every chance that you get is a chance you seize” and it was also quite unclear—-” Where to? Where do I go? If you’ve never tried then you’ll never know ” So, even though we would all go off into different directions, on our different adventures, in that moment we were happily together listening to Speed of Sound. I will forever hear this song and feel nostalgic for that eternal fervor for the unknown that we all had possessed.

Favorite Coldplay song is Everything’s Not Lost from the live album in 2003. Love Chris Martin’s voice.

Charlie Brown - In my opinion, the best song on Mylo and one of their top 5 best written songs.  It’s positive energy can bring up a low spirited day because of its upbeat tempo, use of instruments and sounds, and lyrics and symbolism of light.  I saw it performed live and, combined with the glow bands, was just incredible.

“Clocks” for sure. Love the beat and how the piano & bass compliment each other. Never turn it off when I hear it on the radio.

I love the song Fix you -  and I love Coldplay!.  I think it is their best song by far. Although for the most part, it is melancholy, the end result is very encouraging. Kind of like picking yourself up and dusting your self off. And getting back on the saddle.  My eyes almost always water when I hear it.

    *Fix You*
When I heard this song for the first time, it made me think about my brother who was going through a tough time. I called him and he told me that he had also just heard the song for the first time that week. This song gave my brother hope and he realized that I was there for him. The songs lyrics connected with us and brought us closer together as brothers.
