Blitzen Trapper, the popular folk rockers hailing from Portland, OR, rolled into downtown Buffalo on Friday night with special guest indie-pop group Phox. The group is touring to support it’s seventh album, aptly named “VII”, which was released on October 1st on Vagrant Records. The intimate crowd on hand at Tralf Music Hall was filled with folks from all over the region including some coming from as far away as Columbus, OH. A testament to their following that loves to hear a sound that is described by Trapper’s Eric Earley as ‘Rocky Mountain Whoop-ass’. While the crowd came alive for Blitzen Trapper, the opening set from Phox, was not to be forgotten. The up-and-coming indie-pop group based out of Wisconsin was led by very pleasant female vocals from singer Monica Martin and backed six talented guys who seamlessly switched between a synthesized pop sound and a more folk infused sound. The crowd at Tralf Music Hall was surely blessed with a night rich with musical talent.
