Macklemore is no stranger when it comes to Buffalo, NY. He started off the show by telling everyone that was in attendance at the First Niagara Center about the last time he performed in Buffalo.
It was a performance for about 20 people at some local bar, yet last night he performed for over 6,000 people at our area’s largest arena.
The show last night was a hit with everyone who traveled downtown to see it live. People came from all over including Syracuse, Rochester and Canada to get a glimpse at YouTube legends Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
The show started off with a rapper by the name of Big K.R.I.T. who has some great lyrics matched with even better beats. After Big K.R.I.T. rocked the mic it was time for Talib Kweli to hit the stage and show Buffalo how a real lyricist spits quality rhymes. Kweli performed quite a few of his hits including even a Beatles cover as well. The openers were both very impressive but the real highlight was Ryan Lewis and Macklemore.
The duo that was made famous courtesy of YouTube was far from disappointing. The live band was perfect: Ryan Lewis never missed a beat and Macklemore kept everybody rocking from the minute they got on stage. They ran through all of their best tunes from last year’s album, “The Heist,” but none of the tracks were as powerful as their hit “Thrift Shop.”
Next time Macklemore is scheduled for Western New York, I can see these guys selling out Ralph Wilson Stadium if they continue down this path. The concert was great and the photos are even better. Take a look for yourself and let us know what you think!
