The snow fell, the cold winter wind blew, and Buffalonians played in the downtown streets of Buffalo in the 2012 Powder Keg Winter Festival. The Buffalo Fire Department and the Police Department went head to head in a rowdy session of broomball in front of Statler City. Spectators enjoyed not only the revelry but the benefits from bevy of food trucks. Kids road their saucers down piles of snow in Niagara Square and enjoyed feeding the sheep, the camel and all the animals in the petting zoo. In the backdrop was the music of a local radio broadcast and the burr of chainsaws as the ice carvers created statues of ice.
