Buffalo. For Real TV: Dyngus Day

by S.J. Velasquez  •

Back in the late 1800s, Buffalo's Polish population exploded, and Polish pride seems just as strong as ever -- ESPECIALLY on Dyngus Day.

Buffalo, America's Dyngus Day capital, is prepping for the high holy day of Polish pride. On the day after Easter, Buffalo's Polish population -- note: everyone is Polish on Dyngus Day -- will celebrate spring with meaty post-Lent foods, pussy willow whipping, lively polkas and general good cheer. Visit Buffalo Niagara, with some help from Nelson Starr, explores these Polish traditions and more in the latest "Buffalo. For Real TV" webisode.

I want pierogies so bad, too! They give me terrible heartburn, but I can’t control myself.
