A second Startup Weekend for Buffalo

blog by S.J. Velasquez • February 11, 2013 @ 10:17am
After a successful inaugural Startup Weekend Buffalo in November, the organizers have announced the anticipated followup weekend planned for early March.
Entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts will descend upon Medaille College’s Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center from March 1 to 3. On March 1, participants attend an open-mic pitch session, and teams will form and work on business development the following two days, culminating in team presentations and business prototype demonstrations. Business professionals serving as mentors will offer guidance to the teams.
“Startup Weekend Buffalo is a cost-effective approach for building businesses and jobs in Buffalo, using a bottom-up approach that fosters idea development,” event co-organizer Jon Spitz said in a statement. “We are excited to see how the new crop of business ideas will develop on March 1. When you bring together people who are creative, focused and passionate about starting a business, the possibilities are truly endless.”
Last year, mobile charades app Do Something secured first place at the inaugural Startup Weekend Buffalo, beating out 16 other teams for top honors.
Ticket prices for Startup Weekend Buffalo are $50, or $25 for full-time students, and tickets costs include meals.
