Aim the Amish Rifle: Time to sing in Buffalo

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •

It’s not every day a band from Buffalo earns national media coverage, especially when that group boasts Bills fans who sing about “Freddy, C.J. and Super Mario” instead of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. Last week, the Jambrones, three born-and-bred Buffalo guys who strive to remain anonymous, found themselves in the national spotlight with this ESPN article.

The fight-song creators sound a little like R.E.M., no?

In existence since 2007, the Jambrones have recorded one song about the Bills before every season, and all of the tunes have overflowed with optimism. “Time to Win” mentions the team’s culture change, the relatively recent move from the mundane tactics of Dick Jauron to the immensely likeable Chan Gailey, and the boost from additions like Mario Williams and Stephon Gilmore.

After Buffalo’s 35-17 win over Kansas City—a game the Bills once led 35-3 in the fourth quarter before garbage time—local football fans can finally relax after a comfortable win in the home opener. Sure, Kansas City may be one of the NFL’s bottom-feeders, but a return to the win column after the opening day disaster against the New York Jets gives Buffalonians a pleasant pep in their steps today.

Here’s another Jambrones tune:
