Update: Round 1 is done—16 players were in the inaugural bracket, and Stephen Weiss faced Lucas Tait in the final round. Tait earned the victory, taking home a sweet prize of $50 and is now eligible to participate in the championship tourney on June 16—the winner of which will pocket $1,000. Nice.

If you’ve ever dreamed of the glory that comes with winning a table tennis tournament—and who hasn’t?—it’s time to dust off the old paddle. Beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, Allen St. Hardware (245 Allen Street, Buffalo) will host the qualifying rounds of the Allen Street Table Tennis Championships presented by SThomas events.

Intrigued? Get your wrists stretched and your eye on the prize, you might just be the next Zhang Jike. The tournament will consist of 16 rounds (held every Sunday) and will culminate with the championship showdown on Sunday, June 16. The final two table tennis titans will compete for their place in the winners’ circle and $1,000 cash (not to mention bragging rights for life, worth far more than $1,000).
