Learn your fashion ABCs with our style and beauty series, taking a look at trends, local shops and ideas—one letter at a time.
“Alphabetical Style” will break down a weekly list of five trends pertaining to the featured letter. From clothing pieces and accessories to hair styles and makeup, we’ll cover it all. Take a look at our “U-trends” including umbrella chic, ultra pops of color, up-do braids, unmatched prints and unusual loafers.
Umbrella chic: just because the weather is less than agreeable, doesn’t mean you can’t look good. When rain is in the weather forecast, try a monochrome look that matches your rain repeller.

Ultra pops of color: while winter calls for dark shades of blue, green and black, adjust your wardrobe to include ultra pops of color for spring. Bright hues of pink and yellow play perfectly with black and white classic pieces.

Up-do braids: while a messy low bun can be chic, adding some halo braids to an up-do can only improve your style. This look screams elegance with soft curls to finish off the entire look. Plus it’s easy to replicate.

Unmatched prints: a darling choice, unmatched prints can be as subtle as stripes with polka dots or as bold as this plaid on plaid. Start small with a simple color scheme and then go crazy from there.

Unusual loafers: while the classic loafer has been around for ages, it’s great to see a new spin on the shoe. Prints, patterns and cutouts are popping up in unique styles and unusual footwear.
