Caz Coffee Cafe to close up shop Friday

Full disclosure: I’m the mayor of Caz Coffee Cafe on Foursquare, so it’ll be especially rough for me to see my favorite little coffee shop close its doors to customers.

Just shy of seven years in operation, Caz Coffee Cafe is slated to close Friday evening, cafe owner April Ersing said.

Located just a few skips from Cazenovia Park, the cafe has become a South Buffalo hangout known for its friendly staff, colorful sandwiches and salads, and its variety of fresh coffee options.

“We want to thank the community for any of the support over the years,” Ersing said. “We are grateful for that. It really does sadden us to have to close after just about seven years—two weeks shy of seven years.”

Ersing said that the decision to close the store was due to a number of factors. The storefront will not remain vacant, though, she said. Dog Ears Bookstore, the nonprofit book shop located in the same building as the cafe will also remain open.

Caz Coffee Cafe, 688 Abbott Road, will be open through Friday, but Friday’s hours will probably be limited, Ersing said.
