When it comes getting to and from work in a reasonable amount of time, we don’t have the right to whine much in Buffalo.

Business Journals’ On Numbers determined the number of commuters in their respective cities that can drive or walk to work in 15 minutes or fewer. Of the 100 major metropolitan areas considered, Buffalo was ranked 11th best commuter city.

While 28.3 percent of American commuters get to their workplaces in less than 15 minutes, 31.7 percent of Buffalonians get to work in that same amount of time.

The best city for commuters, according to the stats, is Wichita, where 35.7 percent of employees make it to work in 15 minutes. Here’s the complete list of top 10 U.S. cities for commuters:

1. Wichita
2. Toledo
3. Des Moines
4. Omaha
5. Syracuse
6. Scranton-Wilkes-Barre
7. Youngstown, Ohio
8. Rochester, N.Y.
9. Dayton
10. McAllen-Edinburg. Texas
11. Buffalo

Back in 2011, Kiplinger placed Buffalo at the No. 5 position of their list of best cities for commuters, but the reasoning wasn’t so kind. Kiplinger attributed Buffalo’s open roads to our depleting population.
