Dinosaur delayed

Syracuse-based chain restaurant Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has delayed its move to Buffalo from the middle of this summer to fall 2013, Buffalo Business First and WIVB report.

Business First’s James Fink explained that the timetable was pushed back for two reasons. First, Dinosaur took longer than expected to secure the “necessary utility services,” a pre-construction must, and also was more focused on establishing franchises in Brooklyn and Stamford, Conn. before concentrating efforts on the site in Buffalo’s theater district.

Here’s the text from Fink’s Buffalo Business First article:

“Once those are set, they will be turning their attention to Buffalo,” said developer/restaurateur Mark Croce, who owns the Franklin Street building.

Croce said he expects the Dinosaur construction to start by mid-spring. The restaurant will be able to seat 180 people

The Buffalo News food editor Andrew Galarneau reported in July that Dinosaur Bar-B-Que had found a desirable location on Franklin Street in Buffalo and was prepared to open sometime mid-summer 2013. After tremendous success in both Syracuse and Rochester, the next logical step was the Nickel City. Judging from the initial photo of the building as it stood in July, however, plenty of construction work was required.
