Groovy Peruvian pop-up dinner Saturday

blog by Ben Tsujimoto • February 12, 2013 @ 8:00am
There’ll be other Saturday nights when you can gorge on Denny’s new skillet menu, Applebee’s “2 for $20” special or Wendy’s dollar menu.
If you’re an adventurous eater and currently crave a new cultural cuisine, head over to chef Martha Sosa’s Peruvian pop-up dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at ZMG Fine Arts Gallery, 1045 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo. The cost is $25 for adults, $20 for students and $15 for children. Babies eat for free, and we hear that babies love Peruvian delicacies.

Purchase tickets online here or stop by Pure Peru or ZGM Fine Arts Gallery.
Sosa (pictured, right) has cooked up Peruvian fare at the West Side Bazaar for nearly two years now, and she still plans on preparing fresh meals at Pure Peru, her new boutique and snack shop on 466 Amherst St., Buffalo, in the near future, and her pop-up will be the next step toward funding that venture.
Nina Barone, who runs the well-respected Buffalo Foodie blog, does a fantastic job of breaking down the various items that Sosa will craft for this pop-up, especially since I have very little idea what any of the options include.

Sosa was a vendor at the Taste of Diversity this past summer, and you can read about my introduction to the meat, onions, raisins and fried pockets that I sampled.
