A little bit of WNY shined bright at the Golden Globes last night, when Kristen Wiig announced “Best Actress” nominees alongside Will Ferrell.

The “SNL” and “Bridesmaids” star was born in Canandaigua and eventually moved to Rochester with her family, where she attended Brighton High School.

Quick and funny comments about Emily Blunt, Jennifer Lawrence, Maggie Smith, Meryl Streep were spot on. But the best line? That might have come from Ferrell—“Judi Dench. Where did she come from?” Classic.

Take a look at the clip from the awards show below:

Not the only WNY native making news, UB professor Stephen Henderson also has a Golden Globe connection. The theatre and dance professor was cast in “Lincoln” as William Slade, one of Abraham Lincoln’s messengers, according to WIVB.

Henderson’s other claims to fame include a Tony Award nomination for “Fences” where he starred alongside Denzel Washington, a role in 2011’s “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and other appearances on “Law and Order” and “The Newsroom.”
