Kurt and the Loders to channel Pearl Jam tonight

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •

Allentown will showcase 1990s flair on Friday night, as Kurt and the Loders invade Nietzsche’s for a Pearl Jam tribute night.

A side project of local musicians Zak Ward, Steve Tripi, Michael Johnston, Jeremy Franklin, Ken Will and Joseph Stocker, Kurt and the Loders embrace ‘90s era hits by artists ranging from Radiohead, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Tool, Cake and Green Day.

Tonight, a flood of memories from the glory days of Pearl Jam—still touring internationally, by the way—will cascade on one of Buffalo’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

“I’m pumped for the whole set,” lead vocalist Ward said through a Facebook message, “but I’ve been waiting since I was 16 to play ‘Porch’ and ‘Go’ live with a full band.”

The cover is only $5 at the door, so don’t hesitate to splurge a little on classy beverages such as PBR. Pearl Jam would approve.

Here’s the timeline for the evening, courtesy of the Facebook event page. Don’t think that you’ll be the only one there, either, as 134 people have committed on Facebook.

10:00 p.m.—Vinnie De Rosa
10:45 p.m.—Pearl Jam Set
12:15 a.m.—More Hits From Vinnie
12:45 a.m.—MTV Buzz Bin

The energy in the video below is unparalleled by today’s standards.
