We may be known for snow, but our spring and summer might be Buffalo’s next claim to fame.
In a story published by USA Today, the National Buffalo Garden Festival has been named as one fo the top 10 great flower shows and garden events. Other festivals that made the list include Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival (Florida), Philadelphia Flower Show (Pennsylvania), Dallas Blooms (Texas), Cherry Blossom Festival (New York), Canada Blooms (Toronto), Historic Virginia Garden Week (Virginia), San Francisco Flower & Garden Show (California), International Orchid Festival (Florida) and Chinese Culture Days (Minnesota).
In an interview with USA Today, Casey Sclar, executive director of the American Public Gardens Association shared his thoughts on the garden events chosen. “The experience is a wonder for all your senses. Often many of these locations represent moments of tranquility in highly populated environments.”
According to the list, “When spring comes to northern New York, the area is ready to celebrate. This summer event includes an array of home garden tours, art and botanical displays across the western New York region. You can tour by foot, bike or bus. It’s a way of linking private homes and several different botanical gardens.”
