On the radar: Buffalo Zoo announces BuffaLoveFest

May might be the happiest month in Western New York. Four months of relatively warm weather are on the horizon, seasonal depressions wear off and it’s bright until almost 9:30 p.m.
Welcome a new addition to the late spring calendar of events which already includes the Red Cross Bash, Buffalo Pride Festival and the Allentown Art Festival. The Buffalo Zoo will debut the BuffaLoveFest, an evening dedicated to celebrating our city’s perseverance and relative revival.
From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on May 31, food trucks, local breweries and artisans will congregate at the Buffalo Zoo, 300 Parkside Ave., to highlight the city’s recent success stories—and, honestly, to party. Tickets are $20 pre-sale—order them here—or $30 at the door. Admission entitles the attendee to two drink tickets as well, which should allow you to stroll around confidently among strangers.
According to the Buffalo Zoo’s PR coordinator Rachel Gottlieb, several vendors have already committed to joining the festivities: the Black Market Food Truck, the Roaming Buffalo, the Sweet Hearth, Rolling Joe Cafe and R&R Barbeque Truck are the mobile food vendors lined up so far, while Pasteurized Tees, WNY Book Arts Center, Sweet Jenny’s, Oh Pour L’Amour Du Chocolat, Gizmo’s Creations, CC Designs, the TR Site, CDesigns & Illustrations, and Born in Buffalo have all registered.
Vendors can commit through March 29, so several more are expected—bands are expected to fuel the entertainment as well. Keep an eye on the Zoo’s Facebook page for regular updates.
Hopefully, Luna, the Buffalo Zoo’s three-month-old polar bear cub, will be ready for public viewing at this point, adding another compelling element to the evening. We hear polar bears love food trucks and craft beer.
